CELEBRATING THE 60TH ANNIVERSARY 
OF THE BIRTH OF   
CORK GUITARIST, COMPOSER AND MUSICIAN

RORY GALLAGHER

On Monday, 3 March 2008 at 7.30 p.m.  an Open Public Interview with Marcus Connaughton, blues fan, broadcaster and Gallagher biographer and acclaimed photographer Fin Costello, whose photographs featured in the memorable “Homecoming” exhibition held in 2006.

Music on the evening will be an acoustic setting of blues material that influenced Gallagher, played by two men steeped in the Blues tradition and iconic musical figures in the Lee Delta Blues Club guitarist Pat Horgan and harmonica player par excellence Joe O’Callaghan.  Admission is free and all are welcome.

The World's biggest gathering of Rock and Blues fans will assemble in the town where Rory Gallagher was born in Ballyshannon, Co. Donegal between Thursday 29th May to Sunday 1st June 2008. In excess of 5,000 people attended last years Rory Gallagher International Tribute in Ballyshannon. The 4-day programme of events are packed with Outdoor Concerts, Guitar Workshops, Exhibitions, Rory Gallagher Theatre concerts, Late night gigs beginning at midnight, Films,The Story of Rory, Seminar at the Rory Gallagher Theatre, non-stop Rock 'n Blues Pub gigs.

When in Ballyshannon, you can visit the Rock Hospital where Rory was born on March 2nd 1948, visit the Rory Gallagher Exhibition ~ history on the life of Rory and while at the Festival you will have no choice but experience Ireland's friendly hospitality and a worthy Tribute to Rory Gallagher.

Cork Rocks For Rory 2008

Friday 6th and Saturday 7th June 2008 are important dates in the Rory diary, with the annual Cork Rocks For Rory event taking place at Triskel Theatre in Cork.

Special guest include Dave McHugh Band, Defender, Remember Rory and Slumming Angels.
