6th Annual Rory Gallagher Concert Tribute at the
Dukinfield Town Hall
on May 19, 2001
Barry Barnes presented another blistering night's entertainment from the  best tribute show in the world!  Fat Cat Bobby opened the proceedings with 'Kid gloves' and played 50 minutes  of gut wrenching Rory style blues.

MC Marcus Connoughton from RTE Radio Cork then introduced the awesome Dave  McHugh from Dublin. Dave brought the house down with his sparkling playing and oh so 'Gallagheresque' stage presence, finishing with a brilliant  technical workout on 'Walk on Hot Coals'

Brute Force and Ignorance from Germany played their hearts out and many thought that this was the best performance seen yet by these most likeable young men, a powerful version of 'Cradle Rock' was the highlight for me.

Tony Dowler headlined with his usual fire and technique including a  soaring version of 'Million Miles Away'

And then the Finale with all the players jamming together and sending the air guitarists into a frenzy with 'Bullfrog Blues'

Rory's brother Donal was present with Gallagher Road Manager Tom O'Driscoll.  Donal & Tom brought along the very exciting exhibition of Rory memorabilia  and all his stage guitars including 'the' Stratocaster.

Hi Loopees
A big thank you to Barry Barnes for the Dukinfield show last Saturday - it was great to see That Strat up close and the slides were brill - Rory looked cool as can be in a cowboy hat!  Every year the different groups  show a different facet of Rory, it proves what a long diverse career he had.  The stage management was noticeably more slick than previously, there was barely a chance to draw breath between the bands, apart from that blown fuse!  And Barry's new Boogie amp sounded great!  How about your Out On The Western Plain party piece next year though?   Peter Farrington
